Xavier the Movie

Entitled “Xavier: Missionary and Saint”, the movie saw light in 2006 and was broadcast on TV and web the same year.  The movie has 56 minutes in runtime and is narrated by actor Liam Neeson, who describes step by step the life of Saint Xavier. As the movie mentions, St. Francis Xavier has turned more people to Christianity than anyone else other than St. Paul, that's why there's no questioning the importance of his deeds for Christianity and Catholicism in particular that is worth sharing with the people of today.

The movie was shot in a wide range of locations that encompassed the most notable places Francis Xavier spend his time in during his life. These places included Goa, India; Javier, Navarra, Spain; Paris, France; and
Rome, Lazio, Italy. Directed and produced by Jeremy Zipple, based on the script by Jeffrey C. Johnson the movie was shot by Fourth Week Films with the help and guidance of New Orleans Province of the Society of Jesuits, and the financial aid of Jesuit societies from all across the US.

Besides the dramatic reconstructions of St. Xavier's life and activities, the film also contains interviews with specialists in Jesuit history and activities such as  including Ingrid Rowland (Notre Dame University), Anthony Ucerler, SJ (Jesuit Historical Institute in Rome), Gauvin Bailey (Boston College), Andrew Ross (University of Edinburgh), Lourdes del Costa (University of Goa, India), and John O'Malley, SJ, (Georgetown University).

The movie is now available for purchase on DVD at numerous online stores, and people, who have watched it state that it's a very interesting documentary, which should be seen by all people who are interested in history of Christianity and cultural expansion to the East in the early Renaissance. Many people didn't realize about the deeds of Francis Xavier until seeing this film and that is why exactly it was produced in the first place.
